Black Lava Rock is a naturally porous volcanic aggregate formed when molten lava cools and traps gas bubbles in the stone. The result is a chunky, lightweight rock with a rough natural texture and a deep matte-black color, completely different from polished beach pebble or smooth river rock. It’s one of the most versatile aggregates we stock at ABC Sand & Rock, working across landscape beds, gardening applications, and fire pit fill.
Sized to approximately 1″, the pieces read as a clean accent in landscape beds while staying manageable for gardening, container work, and fire pit refills. Color holds as a true charcoal-black in direct sun, with subtle texture variation from piece to piece that keeps the look natural rather than uniform.
